Swiss Broomball AssociationBroomball was invented by Canadian railwaymen working on snow-covered tracks in the 19th century.

A forerunner to hockey, with which it shares certain elements (a goalkeeper and five outfield players on an ice surface), broomball is played in trainers with special soles that limit slipping, a special broom and a ball that hardens on contact with the ice.
This highly entertaining sport has been established in the canton of Vaud for over 40 years. The association now has 250 members (mixed, aged 14 and over) and a dozen affiliated clubs, with a national championship and annual international tournaments. Lausanne is the Swiss capital of broomball. Introductory sessions and fun activities for companies and individuals are also available. Broomball's motto: accessibility, ease, friendship and fun!
